Safe Person Recognition in the Working Area of Industrial Robots (SPAI)

Aims of the project are the research and prototypical implementation of a method for safe person recognition and positioning in real-time within the operating range of industrial robots. The approach is the use of a special camera system working within the near-infrared (NIR) spectral range. The project’s focus is on the development and optimization of a respective camera system with active pulsed narrow-band illumination, real-time image processing methods and robust skin detection for the detection of endangering situations especially independent from skin type.
