Fake detection for face biometrics using active NIR camera system (FeGeb)

Main requirements for automated biometric systems for use in security areas such as Airports, critical infrastructure such as data centers, etc. are detection reliability, detection speed and person throughput rates, and the cost of the necessary infrastructure.

The security of biometric systems for face recognition against so-called fakes (artificial or falsified biometric features) is used in commercial systems, despite various research remains an unsolved and very relevant problem.

Based on a novel detection method for human skin a prototype system will be realized that allows to detect the deception with facial reconstructions such as artificial parts or face masks.
